An Absurd and Sadistic Waste of Everyone's Money
Why didn't I know that earlier in the month Tommy Chong started serving a 9-month federal prison sentence FOR RUNNING A BUSINESS SELLING HAND-BLOWN-GLASS BONGS????? Cannibis, per se, wasn't involved in the crime at all (nor was any other illegal drug). He was convicted because his customers used his bongs to smoke cannibis. And the argument the prosecutor made for locking him away is that Chong got rich "glamorizing the illegal distribution and use of marijuana" in films that "trivialize law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking and use"!!!! I can't remember the last time I agreed with anything the National Review published, but this editorial by Deroy Murdock on Chong's bust is absolutely dead on. "Chong must have wondered when such activities became criminal. Perhaps the FBI now will arrest Sean Penn for hilariously smoking grass in Fast Times at Ridgemont High."

There are so many fucking sadists in this world.
